Maybe the first one I see, 2015
cut-outs from books and a b&w photograph, archival paper, frames, series of 7, each 60x50 cm

All of the pictures, except for one, are cut-outs from books - some of them more than 100 years old. Only one photograph comes from my own archive - it is a picture of my mother, taken when she was my age. A life of an individual becomes part of the whole group of anonymous, fragile human beings standing under big old trees.
The blank space surrounding them stands for the limitation of our ability to relate to something much larger than us - whether conceptualizing the size and age of those trees or the outer space.
